Older people are disproportionately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a profound impact on research as well as clinical service delivery. Led by authors from the NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre, this work drew together an international group of experts including National Speciality Leads from the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) for Ageing, Dementia and Neurodegeneration.
A survey was conducted on challenges and priorities for research delivery for older people in a world with COVID-19.
The results of the survey, "Research with older people in a world with COVID-19: identification of current and future priorities, challenges and opportunities", were published on the PubMed.gov website on behalf of the British Geriatrics Society. The survey results identify key challenges and opportunities in continuing to conduct research with and for older people, both during and after the current pandemic. This work provides a roadmap to shape further work on how all those involved in research for older people, including the NIHR CRN, can build back better as we restart and continue research for older people.
